Background
The history behind the infamous "Mokha Java" coffee blend can be traced back to the 14th Century of European history. During this period, Dutch traders imported coffees from Yemen (shipped from the port of Mokha) and Indonesia (coffees from the Island of Java} and transported them to coffee roasters located in larger cities across Europe. Both origins produced flavours and textures that were diametrically opposed leading intrigued retailers to combine the two coffee together, creating what appears to be the original blended coffee. Our Black Horse Concept 5 pays homage to this historical coffee blend and combines the fruited, bright coffees from Ethiopia's Yirgacheffe region with the Chocolaty, heavy bodied, sweet coffees from Huila, Colombia and Hoja Blanca Guatemala.
